Replacement Strainer (Collector Arm) for AstralPool Sand Filter
This set contains 2 replacement strainers, AstralPool part number 4404300917.
A strainer is a collector arm: it is a small slotted tube screwed into the bottom of the filter, beneath the sand.
The strainer allows filtered water to pass through while trapping the sand.
1-inch male thread, 110 mm long.
These strainer screens are compatible with AstralPool Aster, Vesubio, and Volcano filters, among others.
A broken strainer allows sand to enter the pool. Replace it as soon as you see sand at the bottom of the pool.

Why replace a strainer?
Over time, the plastic in a strainer becomes brittle.
A cracked or broken strainer allows sand to pass through the filter.
The sand then returns to the pool through the discharge nozzles.
Signs of a damaged strainer
- Sand at the bottom of the pool after filtration
- Sand in the pump strainer
How to replace a strainer
- Turn off the pump and close the valves.
- Empty the filter, then remove the sand.
- Unscrew the damaged strainer from the central manifold.
- Screw the new strainer on by hand, without using excessive force.
- Refill with clean sand, then perform a backwash (washing the sand against the flow) before restarting the system.
⭐ Tip from the team: Take advantage of replacing the strainers to change the filter sand.
Also replace all fragile strainers at the same time: this way, you’ll avoid having to empty the filter a second time.
